Nichols Spring
Magnitude 2Withlacoochee RiverLake PanasoffkeePublic

The spring forms a distinct boil area along the river shoreline and is part of a scenic river reach that sees frequent use by paddlers, tubers, and boaters exploring this section of the Withlacoochee River. Its pool and vent area tend to be shallow but recognizable from the adjacent river channel. In recognition of its ecological and recreational value, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has established a Springs Protection Zone around Nichols Spring and its immediate spring run. This zone restricts anchoring, mooring, beaching, or grounding vessels within a designated buffer to reduce damage to vegetation and shoreline while still allowing public access for swimming, swimming gear, and unanchored use.
