Set within Hunter Springs Park along Kings Bay, its basin, up to 15 feet deep, offers a scenic spot for swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking, surrounded by cypress and mangroves. Accessible via NE 1st St (no boat needed, entry fee), it’s a short walk from parking. Summer weekends draw crowds-arrive by 8 AM. For quiet, visit weekdays in spring (April-May) or fall (September-October), mornings ideal. This is a great spring for small children. If you are visiting Three Sisters Spring while in the area, somewhat of a hack is to just take the shuttle to Hunter if parking gets full. A kayak launch is available. There are outfitters nearby that rent gear but the park is strict that commercial use is prohibited. Water clarity is typically vivid but can cloud with tidal influences. Check - stable, low tidal levels around 1-2 feet ensure clarity, clearest from late fall to early spring during dry periods. Tidal fluctuations will be reflected in the gage height. Lot tides are optimal.
