Bubbling Spring

A small spring located about 1,500 feet southeast of the main spring pool along the Rainbow River, accessible by water via the public Rainbow River paddling trail. Known for its clear, pale blue water and bubbling sand boils, it’s ideal for kayaking and canoeing within Rainbow Springs State Park (fee for entry or access via river). The spring pool is shallow (2.8 ft over the vent) with a sandy limestone bottom, surrounded by dense hardwood forest. Best visited in dry seasons (late fall to early spring) for optimal clarity, as rain can cloud the river. Clarity is likely when gage heights at this nearby site are below 6 ft, with optimal conditions around 4-5 ft, based on historical patterns.
