Alexander Spring
Photo by: manatee-3373Located in the Ocala National Forest, the spring arises from a deep limestone vent in a broad, clear spring basin where steady 72 掳F groundwater from the Floridan aquifer discharges into Alexander Run, a short spring run that flows through the forest. The site has been developed by the U.S. Forest Service into the Alexander Springs Recreation Area, a public day-use and camping destination offering swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, fishing, picnicking, wildlife viewing, and camping in a shaded, forested setting. Reservations are required from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Pets are allowed in the campground only. Floats are limited to 60 inches or less in the swimming area. This is the only place in the Ocala National Forest where scuba diving is permitted (as of July 11th 2026).
