Manatee Spring
Magnitude 1Suwannee RiverChieflandPublic
Photo by: manatee-7180Located within the Manatee Springs State Park, this is a popular swimming and snorkeling site during warm months and a seasonal refuge for manatees when river and Gulf temperatures drop. A boardwalk and trails surround the basin and run, making it easy to explore on foot as well as from the water. A boat ramp is just outside the park. Pets are permitted in the park but not in the buildings or swimming area. This is a fully developed public spring, with parking, restrooms, picnic areas, camping, and river access all located nearby. Conditions vary seasonally, manatee access is protected in winter, and swimming may be restricted when manatees are present.
