Campbell Cut Spring

A small spring pool area, just off the river, where clear groundwater emerges from a single vent in a small cavern and forms a modest pool with light blue-green water that contrasts with the river’s tannic color. The pool is noticeable and distinct, but it doesn’t have a large run; the best way to access it is by watercraft on the river or from the bank when river levels are low. The spring itself is on private land, though its pool is visible from the river channel. Some will argue that this one is the same spring as Pot Hole Spring or Pothole Spring. We'll not argue the point but recommend checking out the area. Look for a smaller vent nearby in the limestone we have listed as Pot Hole. Look for low stable water level around 6-7 feet for the best chances of clarity. The proximity of this one to the river can cause it to brown out quickly as the water rises.
