Pegasus Spring

A small pool where a limestone vent discharges cool groundwater from the Floridan aquifer at an angle just below the water surface. The spring head forms a modest pool within a semitropical forest setting, and a sand boil appears further down its shallow spring run before it dissipates into surrounding wetlands. Starbuck Spring lies less than a tenth of a mile to the northwest, with Ginger Ale Springs and Palm Springs also nearby, indicating a small cluster of natural vents in this inland portion of the St. Johns River watershed. Water clarity is typically vivid but can cloud with Little Wekiva River runoff after rain. Check Little Wekiva River —stable, low levels around 1-2 feet ensure clarity, clearest from late fall to early spring during dry periods.
